Fantasia, The Experience...

Of all secular artist Fantasia is definitely my favorite. No, I do not own any of her CD's, not do I long to watch her videos but I love her TV show Fantasia For Real. Through watching that show I feel I have come to know Fantasia, her manager and her family in a very intimate way and through that I have become a fan.

I knew she was coming to town but was unable to attend the show (plus I was NOT paying $85 to see her!) So, Sunday (during church), Sheree texts me asking if I wanted to attend the show that would be in Baltimore that night AND she would pay for it! An offer I could not refuse. By 6pm we were on the road to Baltimore. I'm quite sure I was speeding but we arrived safely to find that our cheap seats were on the 3rd row balcony. I knew I would not stay in my seat and had to devise a plan.

On my way to the restroom, I kindly asked one of the workers for the night if they were checking tickets because I wanted to be at the stage once Fantasia came on (during this time Eric Bennett was performing and I was impatiently waiting for him to get off the stage).  Once she told me no, Sheree and I ran to the floor and literally stood at the stage during the entire performance! Isn't God awesome!

She performed  songs I barely knew but I truly enjoyed myself. She is an all around great performer and gives people their monies worth. During her performance she:
- winked at me
- smiled at me :)
- and grabbed my hand for a hefty hand shake!

We also had the privileged of speaking with her manager Brian before the show.

I was wowed by the show but didn't want to leave until I was formally able to meet her. So, we stood outside the theater for about 45 minutes only to bum-rush her as she and her entourage rushed out of the building into a van. But in that instance - we hugged!

I didn't get to say all that I wanted to say, but we touched and that memory will forever be embedded in my brain. Sheree attempted to take our photo with her wonderful *smart phone*, but for whatever reason it did not take!

Fantasia, I continually pray for you and that you submit your will to the will of the Lord. It is my hope that one day you will come out with a gospel CD. Until then...Your fan...Who does not know most of your songs...
