I haven't blogged about our housing process because I've been rather irritated by it. We went house hunting maybe twice and nothing we saw struck a cord in us. We have our list of desires and not many houses were coming close but last night we may have had a break through.
Yesterday evening we ventured into Delaware County to view four different homes. Honestly, I liked all of them, but two both Kenny and I (and Jumoke) especially liked:
The first home has three bedrooms, two full baths (and an extra toilet). An updated kitchen, with an extra room that looked like it used to be the garage. It's fully carpeted and has a finished basement. The only downside is that it doesn't have much outdoor space. It has a small front patio but that's it and the lack of outdoor space will not accommodate our (future) two dogs.
Our second favorite has four bedrooms (attic was being used as a bedroom), one bath, fully carpeted, finished basement, updated kitchen, back deck and a large fenced in yard with parking on the side of the house for at least three cars. The only downside to this house for me is that it only has ONE BATH! I desperately wanted a house with at least 1.5 baths. This house is Kenny's favorite.
As we gathered our thoughts last night and prayed asking for the Lord's guidance, God brought to our memory our original house wish list. He reminded us (probably more so me) of what we asked for before we started our search and if what we saw lined up with our list. Interestingly, the second house got a score of 8 out of 10. I guess this is God’s way of telling us to go forth. I don’t know. I was so confused with what to pray about. How does God really answer these types of request? How long do we wait to hear from Him or do we just move forward and see if He makes it all work? For the first time ever I was confused about how to pray and how we would listen out for God’s answer…
I can’t say what our next step will be. It’s tempting to just put in an offer to see what happens but also tempting to keep looking for that perfect 10.
And by the way “My First Place”, still hasn’t contacted us. They are really missing out on a great house hunting couple!
Until something else happens....
