The Wrong Impression....maybe

I appreciate all your comments to my last blog but I want to make some things clear...

I don't hate church or the people in it. I was just angry at that particular situation because I KNOW how we should act. (Plus, it was such a shock because I've never been given the boot from a church before!) It's great to say shake it off, forgive and forget and to extend grace, but we also need to hold each other accountable. The idea is for situations like this to stop before the wrong impression is given to a nonbeliever. "The church" is sometimes peoples' first or only impression of Christ and if that's how we handle things, can you really blame them for not wanting to "be apart?"

All of us need to step up our game and present ourselves holy because He is holy. We must watch ourselves because we never know who else is watching us. And again, be sensitive to others needs.

I am not a bitter black woman and I do not hate the church, it's Pastor or it's members. Just want us to think before we act.

Signed,
A Non-Bitter Black Woman

My Feelings exactly...

I agree that we (christians) do need to hold each other accountable. Its not fair to just brush it under the rug with the "you kow how church folk can be" attitude, because it's not how church folk should be.

Churches could reach out to so many unsaved & even some of the save who have strayed if they would just embrace the compassion and understanding of Christ.

I agree 1005 that we shuld be held accountable. I wish more people were free and open minded enough to let people speak into their lives. However, its not just up to the Pastors, deacons etc. to bring the unchurched(unsaved) people to Christ..its up to us. The "church" is us (the Saved)..the bible says that sum plant, sum water, BUT GOD gives the increase. We often leave evangelism to those who hold hi positions in the church but we are all to be living witnesses, we're all to go ye therefore and make disciples. More importnatly than holding people accountable (because ultimately thats Gods job) pray for your leaders because they're human and under spiritual attack more than we know.

I agree also that we should be held accountable for our actions but please know that God does not give us what we deserve. Every last one of us have fallen short some way or another...does God automatically beat us up and send us to hell? No, He extends grace...He makes room for our mistakes. Just because you are a "Christian" or "Pastor" doesn't mean you are perfect. If someone does you wrong, do you just cut them off? I think it's a two-way street, there may have been wrong on both parts. WWJD?
