Today was a pretty easy day. We stayed in the house and focused on potty training for Ray. He did great actually. No accidents!!! He wore his big boy pants and went to the bathroom just about every 10 minutes. I’m not kidding!
I choose to stay in the house today. Of course there was some event I could have went to but I really wanted to relax. I needed to relax physically because me mind has been racing like crazy and my body doesn’t need to join. As i watched Ray today, it’s interesting how he goes about his day. pretty careless. When he had to potty he went, when he was hungry or thirsty he let me know and his needs were met. What I find great about him and other children is how careless they are. They have a need and believe it’s going to get met. They don’t care how they just know they will get what they need. Why can’t adults be like that??
As an adult it’s so hard to relax. There is so much to worry about. I know the bible says not to because God got us, but it’s almost as if I can’t help it. It’s a natural response to the pressures of life. Worry.
I learned such a great lesson from Ray today and it’s to simply not worry. My needs will be met by God and as long as I continue to pray so will the needs of others.
What is also interesting on the other hand of worrying is trust. Children don’t worry because they trust in the adults that care for them. They don’t worry about getting fed or change, they just know it will be done. Maybe it’s time us adults too a lesson from the little people and learned how to trust in God’s provision. We don’t have to know how or when all we have to know is that it will be done. Here’s the God helping me get to that point.
The verse for today is one we all know:Proverbs 3:5-6;
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
The song that’s on my heart is “Step Aside”. It’s sung by Yolanda Adams but here Cora is singing it on Tyler Perry’s play “What’s Done in the Dark”. Tamela Mann sings with such power and conviction, I can’t help but cry when I see this. Here are the words:
Hold on and don't give up
Don't you worry
You don't have to cry
Cause He He see's what you're going through
Yes Yes he does
God is willing and He is able
This did not catch him by surprise
So just trust him
And just oh step aside
Be still and don't question it
These obstacles they were allowed
He wants to take you higher and higher
If you will hold on
God is willing and more than able
This did not catch him by surprise
So just trust him
And just step aside
Oh I know he's faithful
My God is faithful
To do what He said He'll do
Now if He said just believe it
There's nothing he can't do
You must stand on His word (stand on His word)
Put all your cares on him (give them to Him)
Cause He knows and He loves you
He did it for me that why I can say
Step step aside
God can work a miracle for you
Step aside
You got to let go
And let God
And let go and let God be God
Move yourself out of the way
Move your pride out of the way
He'll never leave you
Nor forsake you
This what I know it ain't just what I heard
So Thank You Lord for being awesome to me
You're marvelous
Praise him Praise Him
Oh step aside
Let go let go let go
He knows what you go through
He knows what you can bear
He can do what you can't do
So step so step so step aside
Thank you Lord
And you're in control
So I step aside
I need to get better at trusting God and get out of His way so He can do great things in other people’s lives.
